Wherever I go you are there
Quietly letting me step on you
For fear of of the unknown
I try not to touch you

Along the wall you lay still
Burrowing in the crack
Where the sun rarely reaches
Leaving smoothness in your track

On the trees you lay so flat
You are entwined in the bark
I learned you are a plant
Not a fungus so stark

On the rocks you create a
Panoply of neon green
I want to feel you someday
To pet you by some mean

On old gates you creep all over
On the stone and the metal
You deliver a layer of color
Like stubborn stain on kettle

You are everywhere and then some
Known to the world as moss
On famed locations you lay there
Like emperor, king, and boss
