When you look with piercing eyes
What is in that head I wonder
Then you quietly sit by the door to
Tell me you wish no blunder

When you tap or flip your bowl
I know hunger pangs are in the belly
Then you stare into the fire to
Tell me you are warm and cozy

When you dart your eyes for a treat
I know you will follow till I relent
Then you paw the blanket to
Tell me you are rather spent

When you hover while we eat
I know you wait for morsels to drift
Then you sit up and stare out to
Tell me you are alert on your shift

When you quietly slide into our bed
I know you want to go under
Then you push against our feet to
Remind us of your love and wonder
