The Project from Hell

If you haven’t heard of Project 2025 from the conservative Heritage Foundation, it is time to pay attention.

Project 2025 is a 900-page policy document authored by 38 conservatives, 31 of whom served under 45. It is a set of policies to drive the next GOP administration. These policies are guaranteed to undo the underpinnings of our democracy.

The authors tout it as a “playbook of actions to be taken in the first 180 days of the new Administration to bring quick relief to Americans suffering from the Left’s devastating policies.”

Project 2025 lays out everything we fear about radicals taking over the government and permanently altering the nation. It inspires fear because it is not just a blueprint for the next conservative administration; it is about the ideology-driven people who will aid and abet their leader for purposes beyond what we can fathom.

It reminds me of a historical-drama on Netflix called “Hitler’s Circle of Evil” about the men who did the unthinkable work for Hitler and ensured he stayed in power. They participated in the failed coup in 1923 that convinced Hitler the right way to gain power is to do it legitimately by winning at the ballot. His circle aided him as he fiercely delivered a warped message and won the support of a nation. Goebbels, Göring, Himmler were in Hitler’s circle years before the Third Reich took over, architecting and executing his plans with stealth until they consolidated power.

The modern version of these historical abettors consist of Stephen Miller, Ken Cucinelli, Paul Dans, Steven Groves among others. They have authored Project 2025.

Here are some of the policies that are setting off alarms.

Project 2025 will replace thousands of federal civil servants with presidential loyalists who will serve at his discretion. Gone will be the scientists who toil despite political divisions. Welcome climate deniers and anti vaxers in crucial positions at NIH and NSF. The Justice department which has independence will be fully under the President’s thumb.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A total ban on the abortion pill will completely annihilate women’s reproductive rights. Federal agencies in the crosshairs of the conservatives will be abolished. Active-duty military personnel will replace local police to corral and mass deport undocumented people. And more.

Heritage Foundation’s President Kevin Roberts recently said that with Project 2025 the nation is "in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be."

In reaction, the GOP contender is distancing himself from the document calling parts of it “abysmal” and “ridiculous” now that the publicity has the potential of dissuading independent voters.

You’d expect the authors to operate surreptitiously and infiltrate, conspire, and inject venom like poisonous leeches. Contrary to that, they are not being coy about their agenda. They’ve put it in print for us to read.

Project 2025 is why many of us will be voting blue, even as we may regret voting against instead of voting for. Really, is there another choice?
